What do you think of the CLA dual exhaust?
What do you think of the CLA's two exhaust pipes? Because the car is a four-cylinder turbo, we know it does not need to have two exhaust pipes. All style. Good or bad?
![]() And speaking of the exhaust, are there any sound clips of the CLA exhaust yet? |

Good or bad? I have a friend who has an old mitsubishi 4cyl turbo and he changed the exhaust to a dual system. I have to say the changes were amazing. There was a better tone to it and on top of that the car performed a little better. So I don't think Mercedes choice to put it in was all about style but also about performance. I personally think dual exhaust looks better. I haven't found any exhaust clips yet. |

RE: What do you think of the CLA dual exhaust?
Some car manufactures, have dummy dual exhaust for the looks
but I'm sure the cla wont have a dummy one; i hope Soon: CLA220 Diesel |

RE: What do you think of the CLA dual exhaust?
I like the dual exhaust, for the symmetry.

Unless each exhaust is independent coming out of the engine then it's a dummy system. It would be far more expensive to have a truly dual exhaust system. That being said I love the dual exhaust look. |

An I4 may not need a dual exhaust since its easy to create a single header that collects into a single tube. But they could easily split the system after running the exhaust through the catalyst for efficiencies in flow without creating a "dummy" exhaust. A straight 6 typically has two separate headers and V blocks (v4, v6, v8, etc) naturally have separate headers that can sometimes meet up for resonance purposes, to minimize costs, or for aesthetic purposes. They sometimes split again for aesthetic purposes or to create operating efficiencies. It all depends on the car, it's purpose, or what either the engineers or bean counters want from its design. Heck, two of the cars in my garage right now have true dual exhaust systems from the factory. It's true that some cars don't need them and that designers implement them in some instances for aesthetic purposes but that doesn't mean that one of the pipes is a dummy exhaust. What car has a dual exhaust where one of the exhaust outlets is a dummy that's cold to the touch when the car is running? -Eric |
